so...after hearing the shit storm news of the new vip tiers...i became worried that imvu could be planning on pulling the plug on classic client and having us move to the new client imvu next/mobile/whatever u wanna call it :P im aware that classic client no longer works on mac cuz apple stopped supporting 32 bit systems and that windows may follow suit...but from what i've read so far on the forums/discussions "eventually the client will be obsoleted by Microsoft similar to what Apple did with its 64-bit update and Macs. IMVU is in no rush to remove the Classic Client and has already created Windows and Mac Beta for when that time comes. The Classic Client will be around a while longer. Beta Clients will replace Classic when the time comes." one comment under that post says "I wouldn't be shocked if Windows 11 goes 64-bit only, and MS is only supporting Windows 10 til 2025. So hopefully the Beta will be fully evolved into something as good as or better than Classic by then. I wouldn't cry over Classic. It's robust, but it's old...and it's time to retire it for updates." so i just looked up if windows 11 can run 32 bit systems and thankfully u can! so classic client should work fine if anyone here updated their windows software to windows 11. but when the day does come for when imvu will be removing classic client...doesn't that mean that black market will be gone too?

one of my friends said that "vu does have plans on yeeting classic client cuz apparently windows will not work with it and that is a bs crop out as windows since 7 has been backward compatible. the new vip tier thing v coin next even all was talked about in the survey that vu sends out in dm they send them out i do them and so far all the stuff they talked about has happened. its how they rig the oh we got peeps say on it. so many say vcoin is a waste no one uses it. this new vip tier is money grabbing. yee it will bets by start of new year they will milk peeps for xmas then poof it will go no word."

what do u guys think though? if imvu does nuke classic client does it mean that imvu black market will be gone too? since it's only for classic client that u can use bm i think... o-o

my basic understanding is this: regardless of which version of the client we're talking about (class vs. beta), we're talking about a client app that talks to the imvu server via a web API. even if imvu stops supporting the classic client app, they will continue to support a server API to which the classic client can communicate. so, even if that happens, we can continue to use "mafioso" versions of the classic client with their server.

my feeling is that imvu is barely supporting the classic client now, so if they "officially" discontinue support, it wouldn't make much difference anyway. (i.e., "what have you done for us classic users lately?" ;)

now, if imvu started really changing their server API in such a way that the classic client could no longer communicate with it, that would pose a problem, but if they were to do so, and if they were to try and push all users of the classic client to move to beta, they would lose a bunch of users. ergo, i would be doubtful they would actively try to cut off users of the classic client, at least not anytime soon.

i really hope that they don't shut down classic client cuz like u said they're gonna lose a ton of users if they do! at least classic client will still be here for a few more years but still.... :(

Please note also if IMVU drop the classic client and you are still using a way to connect on their servers with it, you put your account at high risk. There was already a big wave of bans during June this year, so you can be sure they will keep that way for the future or maybe getting even worse.

So if they drop the classic client best bet would be to switch on their shitty beta if you don't want to loose your precious account. Anyway I'm sure mafias team is already aware of this and will be modding the beta client too like they did for the classic client since many years.

thankfully i dont have any bm items! i only have the deep client downloaded so im able to see bm items. i'm sure that the mods/admins on here are aware of this and are working on a way to get bm on the new client. but for now lets enjoy the remaining time we have left with classic client.

this higher risk may be true, though i haven't heard of this before. i'm guessing many people are still using classic. i know i am ;)

even if IMVU drops support for the classic client, it may be possible to modify it to act like a beta client, in the same way that Firefox can report that it's actually Chrome, Safari, etc. if the calls to the server API are the same, how can the server know which type of client is being used?

what i mean to say is that it might not be so difficult to spoof the server, which could be a way to continue using it, even if imvu discourages this. some investigation is needed, of course

in any case, there is time to figure this out -- probably 12-18 months at least

im not sure how many people still use classic client but so far most of my friends on there use classic client...some of them do use the new one but it's safe to say that the classic one is best :P i was just made aware that the beta client does allow multiple chatrooms at once i just kinda assumed it didn't cuz on mobile u cant so i figured that the client was the same but thankfully it isn't...sorta? :P either way...i still prefer classic client. the new client is still nice but eh :/ would be nice if u can check kbs on it...

Talking to an IMVU staff worker today she said she was told by one of her friends that is also a imvu staff worker and was told to hold off renewing her VIP to the new system right now. She said lots of changes are being made still. I for one think they tryed to come out with this new system before they were ready. Just think for a sec. Those that do have the new VIP tires for this month and you payed for your service you still cant use all your benefits your paying for. You cant use voice chat for one but did they give you a discount? I bet not. I was told also as long as you didn't let your VIP elapsed you could still still with the old client because it still works. Not true now. They money hungry and cant even get there system up and running properly before ripping people off. false advertisement and yet they get by with it because so many people allow it and think what a great job they are doing. I write them and tell them I want my 50 buck vip imvu card sell for the yr. Why do people want to settle for 5 bucks or 10 bucks and get less now and pay out of your ass? IMVU does realize they are fixing to lose a lot of players and most like me that support there site. So they can start listening to what we want or lose there site. Will be up to them now.
