Hey, I am wondering if any of you know the Soap Skin Bubble Plugin...I have been trying to get it but dang, as usual I am having problem getting it to work with my sketchup 8. I have it at the plugin folder but it doesn't show at the tool or extension area. Anybody have an idea how to get it right? I am using sketchup 8 and refuse to upgrade to a newer version because I really don't want to mess my current settings of my other plugins but I want this plugin lol.

Here's what I had to do to get it working on Sketchup 2013:

1) Download the extension from their site: https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/cont ... kin-bubble
(Which is annoying cause it pops up with ads for Sketchup 2015 a lot, and you need to have a Google account).

2) Rename the "JL_SoapSkinBubble_v1.0.19_0.rbz" file you get to "JL_SoapSkinBubble_v1.0.19_0.rar".
Note: rename it to .zip should work too.

3) Open "JL_SoapSkinBubble_v1.0.19_0.rar" with WinRaR or 7Zip.
Note: if you named it to .zip, you should be able to open it with Windows

4) Extract the "SoapSkinBubble" folder and the "SoapSkinBubble.rb" file into your Sketchup plugins folder.

Any way to install it at sketchup 8, I don't want the 2013 sketchup. I already got it in rbz or do i really need to upgrade my sketchup to get it?

Did you even attempt to try my instructions on Sketchup 8?

Rbz is not what you want. If you read my instructions, you'll see that they clearly say to rename the rbz to another format so you can extract the files from it to put into your plugins folder since for whatever reason, Soap Skin Bubble does not work in rbz format for most people.

No I did not yet til now. Been away. I've tried it now and I managed to get it but it looks invisible. http://prntscr.com/58694p

I guess it's okay as long as it works. Thanks again for responding D.M. Appreciate it.

Did you make sure to copy the folder inside the renamed rbz into the plugins folder too? That folder contains all the images for the buttons. My guess is it's missing so it can't display the images on the buttons.

Yes, it's there. I did it twice both same result. First time I did it the folder was in the download only the .rb I put in plugin and saw the icons were invisible so deleted it and the 2nd time I did it I put the folder to the plugin and left it there til I checked it now. It was same result. I also checked the folder I saw the small icon images in the folder but it's not showing when I open the sketchup.

Weird, it is possible that it's broken on Sketchup 2008..I have not tried it on that version so I can't confirm that.

That said, I just want to point out that you can install Sketchup 2013 (Which this plugin works fine in, at least for me) without having to uninstall 2008 or loose any settings. All you have to do is point the 2013 install to a different folder. In fact, I believe it chooses its own directory by default so it doesn't overwrite anything, if I remember correctly.

This is just speculation, but if Sketchup uses some sort of settings/config file/folder....you could try copying that file/folder into the 2013 install location or wherever the config/settings file/directory is stored and see if 2013 will accept it. It may end up allowing you to transfer your settings over.

I've never had a reason to transfer settings between versions so I haven't put any time or effort into that therefore I'm no expert on that but maybe it's something you could look into? Would be cool if you could do it and it would save you time, effort and frustration in the future.

lol yous are kinda doing it the wrong way...
if you havent found the answer yet here it is

dl the rbz. open sketchup, click on window --> prefferences --> install extensions.
navigate to the folder you downloaded your rbz to then it will do it all for you.
make sure you have the ruby plugin as well ;)

i use the skin bubble plugin quite often.

Nah, it doesn't work that way either lol but I know what you mean. I already have it just only the icon pics aren't showing. I might have to try the 2013 like what D.M. suggested in time if I get enough time to fuzz meanwhile Happy holidays all.
