I'm vehemently against IMVU, which is one of the reasons I swear by the Deep Client. If I could shaft them and avoid giving IMVU a penny, I absolutely would. Seriously, I detest them as a company, but I'm also not going to let their injustices and greedy decisions ruin the platform for me, so I'm still there to stay. It's also why I regularly refer people to the Mafias. 1. Because it's just good people and good services. 2. It's a small middle finger to IMVU.
I should clarify though, it isn't just IMVU doing this kind of thing with digital media. As previously mentioned, Ubisoft is the big one that comes to mind for screwing people over and pulling the rug out from under them. But really, there's a lot of companies that have similar license and agreements regarding digital content and media. It's a standard thing for pretty much all non-analogue purchases and services, including the programs and OS on your PC. Some companies, like Steam, are also very fair and customer-friendly with those things.
IMVU just decided to do more of an Ubisoft and screw people over is all. I suspect they were forced to do so, due to their own licenses expiring. But c'mon, they could've given people something to at least say "Sorry guys. We have to, but have this as a sign of apology." Anything really. 5000 promo creds would be my suggestion; it really isn't a lot with current catalogue prices, but it's something and would at least show some level of sympathy towards users. I'd also add a free badge for "music lovers" with that as well. Again, not much, but it shows effort.
N.B. This is also why I have very little interest in AP+. Greed shouldn't be rewarded and in the last state I saw it, it's greed to the highest degree. It's literally just a cash grab. But maybe they'll do the right thing and make some big changes. I'll play the lottery IRL if they do.
