Harassment seems to be rapid on IMVU and many are becoming fustrated at what to do and where to go. Your first reaction to someone harassing you would be to go back at them. But this only heightens thier pleasure and giving them the attention they want. So rather then to respond to them say nothing and ignore them. If they continue at you while in a public room then simply 1.) leave the room or 2.) Ask the room owner or a mod if they will kindly remove that person from the room aka boot. Although this will not stop the person from harassing you it does stop them from achieving what they set out to do...and that is to get under your skin.

Now there are several options you can do to make it so that your harasser/stalker will not be able to locate you to follow you where you are to harass/stalk you.

1.) Turn your locator off (this hides your locations)

2.) Place your self in DND mode (Which now shows you are offline when in this mode but will still show the room you are in if you have your locator on)

3.) Place yourself in Friends only Mode (this allows only those that are on your friends list to contact you)

4.) If you are VIP you can place your rooms to Friends only Mode (This will insure that only those on your friends list have access to join your rooms)

5.) Flag the conversation (this can be done in to report in increments of 23, 30 or 100 lines of text to show who and what was said to IMVU.)

6.) Black the person (although you will be the only one that cannot see what they are seeing everyone else can still see it.)

7.) Change your pattern of habit (if you go to only a couple of rooms the same ones all the time then the harasser/stalker learns your patterns and knows to watch those rooms if you are in there and then they can enter)

8.) Ask Room Owner to Block (If you are friends with the rooms owner that you frequent alot pull them aside speak to them and ask them if they would mind if they value your patronage and your friendship to ban that person(s) from thier room so that you may continue going there and enjoy your IMVU experience.



Now all of these are good options but you will find that some are persistent and find no better joy then to keep at you because you have showed them that it does. Once a lion finds it's target it will not let it go till it is dead. So don't be a target. Now I have been with IMVU for 10 years and I have seen the changes in security to try and allow some privacy to your character to be able to enjoy your experience. It used to be that you could pull up ones name in search rooms and you would see all the rooms they have open in thier name as well as if they are online what rooms they are in at that time. That is gone now all you are able to see is the rooms that one owns. Now I will say that if one were using Gaf210 http://gaf210.imvustylez.net/codes/gadgets/profile-card-lang-eng to pull up your profile card I am afraid though that even if you are off line it will also show the room(s) that you are in meaning it will show the multiple of rooms you are in and not just the first one.

Another problem with Harassment/Stalking you will find that if you block the character to be able to not see you or speak to you no longer it is easy for them to create another account to get around that block to continue to harass you. Some will create multitudes of alts which in turn will most likely all remain guest accounts. Again if you look on Your Room settings click on the box that allows no guest accounts. As well as only frequent rooms you know that do not allow guest accounts in them. Again although you have the accounts blocked and you may be in another's room you will not be able to see what they are saying but others will. No way to protect you from others hearing their lies or squabble. Just remember what Confucious says. To make something a lie one must first believe in the what is being said. So if someone takes what someone else says without knowing facts then they themselves in the beginning were not very good friends to begin with..and with that it's time to find new friends.

IMVU has place reporting/flagging as a way to deter those that are harassing/stalking it is my suggestion that you utilize these as well as followed up with a ticket or the help desk live chat (if you are VIP) On a individuals card you are able to flag their name their tagline their interests n a room you are able to report the Conversation as stated above, then as well if they are mails you are able to click on the safety button and report those as well.

Follow up all reports with a ticket/Live Chat. make sure you have all the facts as well as names in and around as well as the name of the offender. Then as well if there are others in the room that are your friends have them help you out by also reporting the chat dialogue as that helps more in your favor as well. Remember though what you say as well will be included in that report. So do not swear or make threats as then you are just as guilty as the harasser/Stalker. If it means sucking it up to get the results you want then do so.

Now the least way of resistance is to just stand there take it say nothing let them ramble on and do your reporting/flagging. As it only makes the Harasser/Stalker more upset by you not responding and giving them what they want, hence them running their mouth more. Eventually they will tire of hearing themselves and will leave. It also shows them that you are not letting them get to you no more. Silence is always the killer and solution to those that would find themselves being harassed or stalked.

Once you have contacted Help via ticket or Live chat they will investigate your claims depending on the severity of all that was said they may only get a slap on a wrist with a written warning.. But again based on severity it can range from a slap on the wrist to a suspension to a perma ban. We will not be informed of the actions that IMVU takes on the h4c|<7r/stalker as it is a right to privacy thing. Even though you feel like the punish meant that they received does not justify the amount of anguish that you have endured we have no choice but to accept what is given and move on.

Hopefully this has help out a few that are having these problems and that they can somewhat protect themselves against those that would find you a easy target. Remember two wrongs don't make a right so never retaliate just simply ignore. Do not play their game with them and you in turn make a alt to harass them as again you are only asking for more problems yourself. If you can just smile through it think to yourself "I'm gonna get you Suckka the right way" (sorry Action Jackson fan) and hit that report button.

Life is to short to come to a social media platform to have to deal with the idiots that are so bored with their lives that they have to harass/stalk others to place any kind of excitement in their lives. Now here is something to think of on the next person that harasses/stalks you: This person probably has low self esteem, more then likely bullied in real life, has a problem separating alternative lives from reality, Still lives with mommy and daddy, Has no Job, is depressed etc.....and the only way to make themselves feel as if they are something or somebody is to come on IMVU and make another's life miserable where they find it fun. These are the type of people that would pull the wings off a fly and then watch them wobble around unable to fly.

This tutorial has a lot of information.. Good job Esbeth I'd like to note a few things.. I always felt like reporting the chat aka reporting the user never really works.. It takes a lot more reports to even be noticed by imvu staff. I always take things to help tickets and or Live chat is even better cause i feel tickets are read then it has something pasted back to you that they have sent to someone in the same situation as you. at least live chat you can speak with a real person. Even better calling IMVU is the best thing you can do Ive had people harrass me disabled for it. Or you can always have a group of friends report inside a chat while he harasses you. You can always also be feisty IMVUMAFIAS always have information and methods you can do to scare someone where i found the most successful methods that you can get someone back was in the vip section. check it out not much requirements to get it and very worth getting Good post tho be safe or non bothered people

Although I agree with you on the Live chat or ticket or a phone call, as i do prefer those methods as well...but I will point out their scripting on their telepromters/computers...they will instruct you to use their techniques..ie flag report etc as you are no longer able to send in YOUR snap shots or your COPY chat files to them as proof as now it is known that all can be falsified or altered. So without their reporting system and utilizing it you really can't prove your claim. And yes it does take forever to get a response. When I am on with Chat Line I have to ask them to stop reading to me off their script and to talk to me like I am a human. As with any telemarketing outfit as I call them...or Customer Service business... you call in you ask a question they look on their computer for your question or what looks close to your question and they hit a key to give you a automated answer... this is done with each and every question that you ask as they really do not themselves answer your questions personally. Now a few times seeing how Irate I had gotten at these responses and asking for them to stop the prompting I have been able to get the Help person to be able to help me personally with my situations. And I am grateful to the few that do take the time to veer away from the scripting to actual listen to you and address your situations. I myself did it for a few years and ended up quitting that job as I felt I was not satisfied as i was not truely helping people as I had wanted to but rather giving them simple computer answers to ease their minds which they would end up calling back and being charged again the call prices or the help time. My Suggestion is to do as they ask use there system let them know you used their system of reporting up front so that they may connect the two together in a ticket instead of separate ones. I was online with one this morning a Audrey and she/he was a complete idiot and kept posting the same response over and over and I'm like I already did that and please stop reposting the same thing after each new question I ask. Although I was on it for the Red letters and disconnecting issue. There response was the same for each question I asked even though it was a completely different question. as well as telling them I had already done all that they kept posting..smh. But thinking back as well at the Live chat window I was on..No longer does it have on there where you can send files as well as putting in a ticket you can no longer send in files to back your words it all has to come directly from their ways of reporting now.

I completely agree. Although imvu can still see the chats weather you copied or not. I am 100% of that. Because first of all i have a link where i can view what someone said inside a chat i was never in that im currently investigating, Everything is written like spaghetti. And ive had to live chat before reporting a user and the lady asked me what was the room name, and 5 mins later told me it appeard what i said what he said was never said. So i know they can see what was said inside a chat. Im not sure if i reported the chat and maybe thats why. but i don't think that. @Esbeth

yes they do have access to all that is said in a room which it does trigger on key words as to wether to bring it to ones attention or not but if one does not report what they feel is abusive then they really don't take notice of it.

Ghosting rooms I used to have a program that I could do that years ago but it's outdated now and really I have no use for it as now I do not run a very large group but rather just with a small group Less hassle less drama and we are a closed group so again all the h4c|<s that I had back in the day was useful when I had a large group but now nah.

You mean room occupant observer? Or was there another program that allowed you to be in the room listening in to conversations? If there was a program like that back in the day that would be sick!. Infact now i got a idea to ask @D.M this made me thought of it!.

The old program allowed you to ghost a room..to actually enter the room by putting the name of the room in a box and you were able to view all the conversations that was fgoing on at that time. although whispers you could not see some claimed to had tweeked the program to be able to do so. I remember using it alot back in the day to listen to rooms when we were all planning our battle stratages against one another or to see what they were gonna do so that we were prepared. If the room was fun you could not get in there to listen so if 10 people were already in you could not get your program to enter to be able to easedrop. I know if I had access to my old hard drive from years ago It would contain all the old programs that we used to use..But now well IMVU said no more and banned alot of them and alot have gone obsolete. and since I don't use desktops no more would be hard to find a Desk top that would take my old hardrive as my desktop was a old old machine.
